welcomeWelcome to the official Aliso Niguel NHS Website! National Honor Society is an organization designed to honor exemplary high school students who have shown outstanding performance in Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Members are well recognized by their fellow peers and teachers and contribute extensively to their community. If you are interesting in applying for this organization, attend the announced mandatory meetings near the start of the school year. For returning members, here you will find copies of monthly agendas, library tutoring lists, and service hour forms. New events as well as other important notices will be listed on this website. Additionally, we will attempt to update individual hours/informational as soon as forms/hours/attendance are turned in. Be sure to report to your officer to check up on the latest status updates. Senior Banquet Video
Posted by Daniel Kim
Hey Seniors!

Now that AP testing is over, time to have some fun! You know, all of those end-of-the-year parties and team banquets and stuff. Remember, our NHS Senior Banquet is also coming up!
I would like to remind you that you need to send in your pictures as soon as possible if you want to be in the video! So far, only 13 people have sent me theirs. Please note that I really don't like putting together videos for 5 hours the night before they're to be shown because every single person decided to send in their pictures at the very last minute. So I am going to set a deadline for your pictures: Wednesday, June 1st. In that case, you'll have more than a week to waste a whole five minutes to dig up a random photo of yourself and send it to me.
And after that, go party it up the rest of your senior year!

Thanks a ton,
Daniel Kim

Meeting Wednesday
Posted by Grady Tarplee
Helloooooooo NHS!!!!

This Wednesday, April 27th, we will be hosting officer and executive council elections for next year. Please make sure that, if you are running for an officer position, you are prepared to speak about your qualifications for these positions. This will be taking up most of the meeting.

Seniors, if you have not done so, please email us your photos for senior banquet.

THERE WILL BE NO LIBRARY TUTORING FOR THE NEXT THREE WEEKS. Library tutoring will resume on Thursday, May 19th. Please do NOT come to the library during the next three weeks (until after AP testing is over).

Thanks again everyone. See you Wednesday at lunch in the theater.

Helloooooooo NHS!!!!

Some reminders for the week.

First, if you would like to run for an officer or Executive Council position, please make sure to turn in your officer forms to Mrs. Novak by THIS Friday, April 15th this week.

Second, library tutoring dates. For those last names MacMillin-Roche, you have a kind of funky schedule because of AP testing. Your dates are April 14th (tomorrow), April 21st, May 19th and 26th. You must come to the AV library from 3:30-5:30 to tutor.

Our next general meeting will be April 27th at lunch in the theater.

Don't forget to turn in your officer forms by THIS FRIDAY to Mrs. Novak.

Thanks!

Senior Banquet Video
Posted by Daniel Kim
Hey Seniors!

I know that this year, we may or may not have a formal banquet at the end of this year. Nevertheless, we still have a tradition here at NHS to keep up: the Senior Video! This video is dedicated to all of our Seniors here are NHS, and we show it at the banquet. It usually shows your baby pictures and current pictures. So it would be great if you guys could send your baby pictures and your senior pictures in as soon as possible so you can be in the video! They can be anything, from the formal one you took at the beginning of the year, to something random when you were in Spain.
Thank you!

March Meeting
Posted by Grady Tarplee
Helloooooooo NHS!!!!

I hope that everyone has had a fantastic March and is excited for spring break! Our next meeting will be held this Wednesday, March 30th at lunch in the theater. We will be going over a few community service opportunities and talking about elections.

Juniors and sophomores, you have the opportunity to run for Executive Council next year. This is the group that helps make decisions for NHS and assists in various activities. It is very important we have dedicated executive council members and I hope we have many of you run. If you are already on Executive Council, you also have the opportunity to run for President and Vice President of NHS.

Seniors, we are currently in limbo for stoles. However, we will not be having a meeting this week. All senior meetings are canceled. If you have any questions regarding stoles, please email us or ask me or the VPs. We will answer any inquiries regarding this.

I hope to see you all Wednesday at lunch!!!

January Meeting
Posted by Grady Tarplee
Helloooooooo NHS!!!!

Alright, so we're wrapping up first semester. Our meeting is THIS WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26th, at lunch in the theater. And service hours will be due.

Before you start freaking out and emailing me, here's the new policy on hours:

1. You still need 10 hours.

2. If your hours come from library tutoring, the Laguna Niguel Holiday Parade, Christmas Caroling, Rose Parade Decorating, or Snowfest, you will NOT need to turn in a service hours form. We only need service hour forms for NON-NHS affiliated events. Forms can be found at http://www.anhs-nhs.com/files/downloads/service.pdf

3. Hours will be due this Wednesday, but I will take them late. You will need to find me or your VP to give your hours to.

4. You will be able to check your cumulative hours through NHS events on Wednesday to see if you are short any hours.

For those of you who have not attended any NHS tutoring sessions, THIS THURSDAY is your LAST CHANCE. I encourage even those who couldn't come to their original session to come to this one. We will be overwhelmed this week. If you need hours from this session, I will expect you to show up.

Remember, if you don't have hours, you're not in NHS.

We will also be confirming if you have attended an activity. There has only been one person who has prearranged an alternate activity date. I expect to see the rest of you on the attendance lists for these activities.

See you Wednesday!

Grady :)

Induction
Posted by Grady Tarplee
Helloooooooo NHS!!!!

This is another reminder that ALL NHS members MUST attend induction this Sunday, January 9th at 1:45 p.m. It will be held in the ANHS theater. If you cannot come and have a LEGITIMATE excuse, please email Mrs. Novak. I CANNOT excuse you from this event.

Several of you have been asking what you should wear for this event. Please wear semi-formal, more conservative clothing. Girls, please wear nice pants and nice shirt, or a nicer skirt and shirt/blouse or dress (second option preferred but not required). Guys, dress slacks and a nice dress shirt (tie optional). You may wear color, but the color cannot be too bright or vivid.

For those who hear an announcement regarding NHS today, there is NO meeting this week. There is a get together for Executive Council and new members only. Our next meeting is still January 26th.

Thanks again. See you Sunday.

September Meeting and New Things
Posted by Grady Tarplee
Helloooooooo NHS!!!!

I hope that you all had a great summer and are ready for a brand new, exciting year!

So, down to business. Our first general meeting will be on Wednesday, September 29th during lunch in the theater. Please remember that your 15 summer service hours will be due then.

Attached are several forms that I would like everybody to look over.

The first form is the service hours form. If you haven't already, please make sure to have it all filled out and ready to go by the general meeting. It will be due then.

The second form is a list of executive council members, in case you need the names of any of the members.

The third form is a list of the VP's that each of you have. Please email me back if I missed anyone.

The last two forms are the lists of guidelines we have decided to implement for NHS this year. To better help the academic and social aspects of NHS, we have decided to create some new guidelines we would like everyone to follow. Please review both forms. One form concerns library tutoring, the other form concerns general member guidelines.

We would appreciate if you all email us back your questions concerning the new guidelines. We will be able to answer questions you have both as a group and individually at the general meeting on the 29th.

We hope to see you all on the 29th. Thanks!

Grady :-)
